Cardiac electrophysiological study (EPS) may be considered when palpitations and tachycardia recur, and non-invasive examinations are difficult to clarify the mechanism or before interventional therapy is planned for localization. The decision is based on symptom burden, ECG and imaging results, pre

Cardiac electrophysiological study (EPS) is usually performed in the catheterization lab. Electrode catheters are inserted into the heart chambers via veins to record intracardiac potentials and perform programmed stimulation. Optional three-dimensional mapping systems can reconstruct the anatomy and electrical activity of the heart chambers to locate abnormal conduction or excitation sources. Postoperative monitoring of heart rhythm and puncture pathways is performed. The goal is to clarify the mechanism and provide a basis for subsequent treatment (including medication or ablation). The above is general health information and not medical advice; specific information is subject to specialist evaluation and hospital protocols.
