This treatment is premised on obtaining compatible hematopoietic stem cells. The donor can be an HLA-matched/haploidentical related or unrelated donor, or umbilical cord blood can be used. Usually, pre-treatment (chemotherapy/immunosuppression) is performed first, followed by intravenous infusion of bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cells, along with infection and rejection prevention and supportive treatment. After the operation, blood counts and bone marrow are monitored for engraftment and hematopoietic reconstitution, and medication and isolation care are adjusted as appropriate. The above is general health information, not medical advice; the specific plan is subject to specialist evaluation and hospital protocol.

Combining pre-operative evaluation, hospitalization and post-discharge follow-up, the overall stay in China is usually recommended to be 8–16 weeks; if unrelated donor search or complication management is required, the time may be extended, subject to the actual schedule.
