Intracorneal ring segment implantation adjusts the corneal curvature to be more regular by forming a tunnel in the corneal stroma and implanting ring segments of selectable sizes. Usually, a tunnel is created with a femtosecond laser or manual instruments, and one or two ring segments are implanted at a small incision, with the position and arc length planned according to the pre-operative topography. Postoperatively, the incision and ring position, corneal shape, and vision fluctuations are monitored, and eye drops are used according to the protocol. The above is general health information and not medical advice; specific information is subject to specialist assessment and hospital protocols.
