Surgical replacement is usually performed under general anesthesia through a chest incision. After establishing cardiopulmonary bypass, the right ventricular outflow tract is opened, the diseased valve leaflets or degenerated conduit is removed, and a suitable mechanical or bioprosthetic valve is selected according to measurements and sutured in place. Subsequently, cardiopulmonary bypass is discontinued with the assistance of ultrasound and monitoring, hemostasis and drainage are completed, and the incision is closed. Postoperative focus is on monitoring hemodynamics, heart rhythm, and respiration, and pain management and rehabilitation are performed according to the protocol.
