Tendon Transfer Reconstruction

Tendon transfer is based on the premise of preserving well-functioning donor muscles. Appropriate tendons are selected according to individual conditions and redirected to restore key movements such as wrist, finger, or thumb extension. The tendons are usually separated and tension-matched under small incisions, and end-to-side or end-to-end anastomosis is performed, stabilized with fixation devices and suturing techniques. Postoperative early protection is provided with splints/casts, followed by retraining, with the goal of establishing a new tendon-movement correspondence and restoring daily grasping and releasing functions.
