Intracorneal ring segment implantation adjusts the corneal curvature to be more regular by forming a tunnel in the corneal stroma and implanting ring segments of selectable sizes. Usually, a tunnel is created with a femtosecond laser or manual instruments, and one or two ring segments are implanted at a small incision, with the position and arc length planned according to the pre-operative topography. Postoperatively, the incision and ring position, corneal shape, and vision fluctuations are monitored, and eye drops are used according to the protocol.
